Please join me in welcoming Dr. Arthur Diskin, Global Chief Medical Officer for Royal Caribbean International, Ltd. – Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Azamara Club Cruise Lines to speak at the 8th World Medical Tourism & Healthcare Congress.
Dr. Diskin attended college and medical school at the University of Miami. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Los Angeles County Medical Center/University of Southern California. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Diskin is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP), Past President of the Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP), former Chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH), in Miami, Florida and past Chair of the Section on Cruise Ship and Maritime Medicine of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
He co-developed the Institute of Cruise Ship Medicine (ICSM), open to physicians from numerous cruise lines while with Carnival Cruise Lines and has now created a similar program at RCI – the International Academy of Cruise Ship Medicine (IACSM). In his current role, he is responsible for recruiting, retaining and reviewing the credentials of the ship’s physicians and nurses, determining which medications and equipment to stock, developing medical evacuation and disaster management policies and advising the ships’ physicians as needed
