Kelly Meloche
Founder, International Health Care Providers (Canada)

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Kelly-Meloche[1]Q: Describe the typical patients that you work with. Where are they from? What are the typical demographics? Male/Female? Age? Socio-economic background?

A: They are broken into two categories really:

Waiting for healthcare: either waiting for surgical intervention, second opinions or even first opinions as well as advanced technologies or medications that are not offered in Canada. They are also looking for “service” in terms of their healthcare delivery meaning they want to feel they have an active role in their healthcare decisions.

Specialized procedure not offered in Canada – or prohibited. An example would be the CCSVI (Liberation Procedure) which treats the symptoms of MS, Lyme, Autonomic Dysfunction.

There is an equal split in terms of male/female clients but the catalyst to get the ball rolling are normally females whether it be for themselves, spouse or family member.

Typically patients are over 40 or they are pediatric patients. Very rare for a 20-something to seek private care unless their issues are extraordinary or life-threatening.

Clients are normally educated and have disposable income yet they are not “rich”. Many clients have taken out loans or cashed in investments to obtain healthcare in the US.

Q: What is the most common procedure?

A: Most common procedures are knee & hip replacements ~ spine surgeries, gastroenterology procedures, gynecology and pediatric intervention.
