The 7th World Medical Tourism Congress (Washington D.C. Sep 20-24) is proud to announce Mexico as a Platinum Sponsor. The highly anticipated Congress will be held in Washington D.C. Sep 20-24, 2014 and will welcome up to 3,000 participants from 100 countries. We invite you to network with the most renowned providers from Mexico during the event.

Thousands of medical tourism patients travel to Mexico every year for procedures that range from complex surgeries to dental care. The main medical specialties are cardiology, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, fertility and reproductive health, oncology, orthopedics, dentistry, spinal surgery and bariatric surgery. The country has 122 certified hospitals by CSG an accreditation system similar to JCI and 7 hospitals accredited by JCI. The ratio of specialists to general practitioners in Mexico is 63.4% − above average for OECD countries (57.7%).

One of Mexico’s goal for 2014 is to consolidate Mexico’s health tourism image by 2015 and become one of the top health tourism destinations in the world by 2018. The top healthcare providers representing Mexico at the Congress will showcase their medical services, infrastructure and quality of services that Mexico has to offer.

Medical Tourism: Opportunity to Expand Tourism Portfolio

Almost 12 million international visitors arrived in Mexico last year. Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism said the tourism industry grew by 9 percent from 2013, with U.S. nationals contributing nearly 6.5 million of the total, or almost half of all visitors.

Mexico receives most of their medical tourists from the US and Canada due to the proximity to these countries. Medical tourists are looking for value and are exploring options to travel overseas where they can access high quality of healthcare at more affordable prices. Mexico has become a very attractive destination and cost savings add to the attraction of medical tourism because patients can save between 40-90 % off the cost they would receive in their home country.
