Julie Coote Knows that Big Benefits Can Come to Small Business Through Exchanges

Julie Coote headshot (web)Julie Coote is the Head of Human Resources at Geode Capital Management, LLC (“Geode”), a global investment manager with over $200B in assets under management. During her 15 years at Geode, Julie has helped the company grow from three employees to over 75. Her areas of expertise include recruitment and staffing, immigration services, benefits, compensation planning, performance management, corporate policies and employee relations. She created and manages all human resource functions while helping with talent management and strategic planning.

Prior to joining Geode, Julie worked at Fidelity Investments as a Research Associate providing analytical and administrative support to the Integrated Research Group. Previously, she worked at Wellington Management Company, LLP as a Portfolio Administrator supporting the Head of International Equities by conducting research and performing analytic work and data management for the global portfolios.

Julie has an M.B.A. and a B.S. in Marketing and Finance from Northeastern University.  Julie is certified with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a Senior Certified Professional (SPHR-SCP) and is also a Certified Practitioner of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Step I and Step II Instruments.  She is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and the Northeast Human Resource Association (NEHRA) and is very active with volunteer activities in her community.

During the conference, Julie will present along with Joseph Laurin, President of Fidelity Health Group in a session titled “Private Health Exchanges Offer Small Employers Big Benefits.” This presentation will discuss the hurdles that small employers face when it comes to selecting and administering benefits. A competitive benefits package is crucial for small employers, but offering more benefits options often means a greater administrative burden in the form of additional forms to complete and benefits to track.
