Minimally Invasive Trans-Umbilical Surgery
One of the outstanding services that Nisa Hospitals can offer to patients with complex conditions is a Minimally Invasive Trans-Umbilical Surgery. This technique can be used not only to perform different types of ordinary urological and gynecological surgeries but also to operate on complex oncological patients or patients with benign pathologies in pelvic and intra-abdominal organs.
Compared to other conventional techniques, the advantages of Minimally Invasive Trans- Umbilical Surgery are: reduced pain, minimized trauma to the abdominal wall and quicker recovery, allowing a swift return to usual life without stigma recalling the pathology at the origin of the operation. More than 300 interventions are already successfully performed using this technique.
New Linear Accelerator
The Department of Radiation Oncology of Nisa Virgen del Consuelo Hospital has recently updated its Linear Accelerator (LINAC) to a newer one with 160 Multileaf Collimator whose extreme accuracy in locating the tumor and determining its volume opens new possibilities in Radiosurgery. Treatment with the new LINAC gives hope to patients condemned to a complete paraplegia as a result of spinal cord compression of tumor origin. Also the new equipment allows treating with over more than 80% of success of lung metastases considered before to be untreatable. Lung, liver or pancreatic tumors at early stages are among other indications for Radiotherapy. The capabilities of the new 160 Multileaf Collimator allows greater quality control and reduced overall treatment time by up to 75%.
