Aaron Bean was elected to the Florida Senate in 2012 and chairs the Health Policy Committee. He also serves as the Select Committee on Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Appropriations, Health & Human Services Appropriations, Education Appropriations, Commerce & Tourism, Governmental Oversight & Accountability, and Communications, Energy, & Public Utilities Committee. Aaron also currently works for UF Health Jacksonville as the Relationship Development Officer and co-owns 8 Flags Insurance Company.
Before serving in the Florida Senate, he served eight years in the Florida House of Representatives with a term as elected chairman of the Duval County Legislative Delegation in 2008. During his tenure, Mr, Bean was the recipient of numerous awards for his effective leadership and was selected by then House Speaker Marco Rubio to serve as the chairman of the House Health Care Council, which handled all health care policy in addition to the appropriations of roughly one-third of the state budget.
Prior to his election to the Florida House in 2000. Aaron served as a commission and mayor of Fernandina Beach. Also in his public service background is sitting on the First Coast YMCA Board of Directors, Big Brother & Big Sisters and the United Way.
Aaron received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Jacksonville University, and was the city president of Compass Bank for 10 years (1998-2008). Aaron and his wife, Abby, have been married for 22 years and reside in Fernandina Beach, Florida, with their three sons Bradley, Gray, and Walker.
