Dr. José Francisco Tomas Martinez is the Medical Executive Director for Sanitas. He will be a panelist for the 2nd Bupa Summit on September 27, as part of the World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress in Orlando, Florida.
Dr. Martinez received his medical degree from the University of Salamanca in 1985. He received his PhD. And board-certification in Hematology in 1990. In 1991, Dr. Martinez completed his training at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle in 1994.
His clinical activity is in stem cell transplantation and lymphoid malignancies. He has at the Department of Hematology of the HU La Princesa de Madrid and was the Director of the Department of Hematology and Clinical Research of the Fundación Jimenez Díaz at the Autónoma University in Madrid from 1998-2004.
In January of 2005, he joined the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Madrid, where he served as the Director of the Hematology and Clinical Laboratories departments until 2014. Currently, he is the Executive Medical Director of Bupa-SLA and Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas (Division of Cancer Medicine. Department of Lymphoma and Myeloma).
He is member of various scientific societies including European Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Group, ASH, ASCO and EHA and has published more than 150 papers in international medical journals.
